• A handful of Ephebian guards - killed by the Omnian army (pg 200)
• Private Dervi Ichlos - an arrow through the chest (pg 206)
• The Captain of the Fin of God - drowned when the ship sank (pg 239)

• The Mate - as above
• Deacon Cusp - fell to his death (pg 335)
• Vorbis - hit between the eyes by 2 pounds of tortoise travelling at 3 metres a second from a great height (pg 346)

• Prince Lasgere of Tsort - stabbed in the ear with a dagger (pg 232)

• 'Charcoal' Abraxas - might have been killed by lightning (pg 188)
• A man - Vorbis asked one of the head inquisitors if they new where he lived (pg 314)
• Another man - the last man who knew how the gate worked was probably tortured to death years before (pg 329)

• The crew of the Fin of God - drowned (pg 239)
• A third of the men of the Omnian army who set up the supply line through the desert - died of heat, dehydration, wild animals and worse.
• Thousands of people were sacrificed to a god (pg 264)
